M1000 ecu 12 code

Just got off my m1000 and it will idle fine but as soon as i give it some gas it will back fire, bog and die. On my dash it says ecu 12. What does that code mean.

you sure it isn;t 1-2..??

The Check Engine Light is controlled by the ECU and
may illuminate for a number of reasons. The light
should illuminate each time the key is turned to RUN
or START, and it should go out when the engine starts.
If the light stays illuminated or it illuminates while the
engine is running, the ECU is receiving input that is
outside of its established parameters.
Diagnostic Codes/
Check Engine
(Crossfire/F-Series/
M-Series Models)
These diagnostic codes are flashed by the check engine
light incorporated within the speedometer/tachometer.
Refer to the following chart for diagnostic code
sequences.
NOTE: On single-digit codes (2, 4, etc.), the number
indicated will flash in an uninterrupted
sequence. On double-digit codes (1-2, 1-6, etc.), the
first number indicated will flash in an uninterrupted
sequence, there will be a short pause, and the second
number indicated will flash in an uninterrupted
sequence.
If the coolant temperature is at or above 80° C (176°
F), the coolant temperature light will flash a warning
(alert). If the coolant temperature is at or above 93° C
(200° F), the coolant temperature light will cease flashing
and will remain constantly illuminated.

check your barometric tube for plugging or kink and possibly bypass your throttle safety switch(unplug) in case throttle adjustment is causing ya problems..

I dont think its tube or the throttle sensor. i noticed last weekend when riding up the trail that at low to mid range it would start to bog and on the digitron one cylinder was 250-300 deg hotter but as soon as i open it up it would rev up and the temps would begin to even out. would this be an igniton coil problem. Ran awesome the first two times to the mountains. Took it out yesterday was doing the same thing as on the trail then tonight i cant even get going with out it back firing. ??????

did ya fill the tank when your were done today /yesterday with new gas..??...if so check that you didn;t go to the diesal pump..??

Testing Electrical
Resistances
(800/1000 cc Models)
NOTE: Resistance tests of the engine electrical
components should be made using the Fluke Multimeter
only. Analog-style multitesters may not be
accurate enough to use in these critical tests.
Replace any component that does not have a test
value within specifications.
IGNITION COIL (Primary)
1. Disconnect the double wire plug from the ECU to
the ignition coil.
2. Set the selector in the OHMS position.
3. Connect the red meter lead to the black/white lead;
then connect the black meter lead to the white/blue
lead.
4. Ignition coil primary resistance must be between
0.24-0.36 ohm.
IGNITION COIL (Secondary)
1. Remove the spark-plug caps from the high tension
wires.
2. Set the selector in the OHMS position.
3. Connect the red meter lead to one high tension
wire; then connect the black meter lead to the
other high tension wire.
AK050D
4. Ignition coil secondary resistance must be between
5040-7560 ohms.
CHARGE COIL (1)
1. Disconnect the triple-wire plug from the main wiring
harness to the magneto.
2. Set the selector in the OHMS position.
3. Connect the red meter lead to the black/red wire in
the plug; then connect the black meter lead to the
green/red wire in the plug.
AK014
4. Charge coil (1) resistance must be between 7.20-
10.8 ohms.
CHARGE COIL (2)
1. Disconnect the triple-wire plug from the ECU to
the magneto.
2. Set the selector in the OHMS position.
3. Connect the red meter lead to the brown/white
wire in the plug; then connect the black meter lead
to the green/red wire in the plug.
4. Charge coil (2) resistance must be between 7.20-
10.8 ohms.
LIGHTING COIL
1. Disconnect the main wiring harness from the
engine.
2. Set the selector in the OHMS position.
3. Connect the two meter leads to each of the yellow
leads in the connector from the engine.
AK015
4. Lighting coil resistance must be between 0.08-
0.12 ohm.
IGNITION TIMING SENSOR
1. Disconnect the two timing sensor connectors
(blue/white and brown/green - #1) and (green/
white and brown/green - #2) from the ECU.
2. Set the selector in the OHMS position; then connect
the meter leads to the sensor leads.
3. Ignition timing sensor resistance must be between
148-222 ohms.
SPARK-PLUG CAP
1. Remove the spark-plug caps from the high tension
wires.
2. Set the selector in the OHMS position.
3. In turn on each cap, touch a tester lead to each end
of the spark-plug cap.

4. Spark-plug cap resistance must be between 4000-
6000 ohms.
IGNITION SWITCH
1. Remove the main wiring harness connectors from
the ignition switch.
2. Rotate the key to the OFF position.
3. The meter must read less than 1 ohm resistance
between the ignition switch terminals.
4. Rotate the key to the RUN position.
5. The meter must read OL (infinite resistance).

did ya fill the tank when your were done today with new gas..??...if so check that you didn;t go to the diesal pump..??

Couple of seasons ago I filled all the sleds in my trailer with diesel.First ride of the year and was so used to putting diesel in my truck Lol.

No i am certain that i didnt put diesel in my tank all though i did put supreme (shell) in it in valemount but that fuel should be good because the tanks are emptied quite quickly you would think. I'm going to empty my tank tonight and go by some new fuel tommorow. Just went out there again and the code came up, idles fine but as soon as i give it gas it back fires almost dies and then idles back up again. ?????

check your reeds for obstruction/breakage/sticking...and hey easier yet did ya try changing spark plugs...they can sure throw one into the old funny bone some times...but sounds like possibly a reed problem..

when l had a station they filled my underground diesal with gas and vice versa..the diesal screw up cost a 50 grand bill for a td 25 dozer engine..the truck cariers insurance paid it...but anything can happen..?
