Last summer I took my '03 Mountain Cat and turned it into a bit of a mod. Thanks to all my buddies who put in the late hours and extra hard work. :beer;

And thanks to all the guys on SnoWest who answered all of the questions I had and the cheap parts I found in the swapmeet. Tell me what you think

How it started

Cooler I made from the stock one.

The stirrups I welded out of the extrusion

Boss Tanker seat (extra 3 gallons), 162X16X2.5 Extreme track, 8" wheels (to clear 16 wide track)

LED tail light (thanks Tundramonkey for the idea)

Mesh hood I made, I think its stong enough...

Racepak UDX gauge (thanks Mike)

Finished sled, runs great!

Did you build that bumper or is it a kit? I would LOVE to do that to mine. The tunnel also.

He built that bumper, for some reason it looks just like mine!

Was that cat sitting outside a red shop next to Kari Dodge? I thought I saw a for sale sign on it....

Na, she is sitting in my shop. And as of this morning it didnt have a for sale sign on it.

I have been throwing the idea around a bit. Were you thinking for a 1M or a M series?

A stock 1M hood with lights guages and foam weighed in at just over 35 lbs. I got mine covered (minus gauge, light, and wiring) and it was 9 lbs.

I could also just do the frame and you can cover it....

This is the only picture I have of the coolers, sorry it isnt really clear. All I did was take the stock cooler and cut the bend out, then welded it back together. I pressure tested it at 18-20lbs for 12 hours and it held.

As far as the hood, I suppose I could make another. It will take me half the time (and material) now that I have an idea what I'm doing. HAHA The local awning shop here in town did a great job selecting a matial for this application. I didnt get any snow at all in on my motor and clutches, the only thing is if you stop with snow built up on the hood the heat coming off the pipe will melt that and water drips in. The frame held up really well, even after a few trees and rollevers!

how did the mesh hood do with keeping the fine snow out and off the clutches ?

Even in the fluff of December and January it did great. I didnt have any problems, but as an extra procaution I have SLP filter fabric over my intake. Its decieving, the mesh is really coarse; however, it performed well.
