mesh hood mounting

here is some pics of my mesh hood mounts...thought you might be interested.
the pics pretty well explain it...if i can;t post all the pics at once i will just do a few posts..the tight rubber bushing on the side pins keeps a person from losing pin..the washers on the head of pin were just so pin would not protude to far out the side...the front pins are awesome..a person could actually use these on the side as well but there was only two in the store..l will probably change them out when i can get more...you just flip the locking end on them to secure or remove..and the hood actually lifts up a fair distance with the side pins out to EASILLY get at the front pins for easy removal and for easy locking..then you just pop the sides over the side pins..will be easier with the pins like the front if ya use them but still not a problem with what im using now...we are talking seconds for hood install and removal with the benifit of a good solid mount with no sideways moving ..anyway only three pics allowed with this..i will follow up with more...there is 13 total

What are you going ot do up front with the gap right behind the front bumper?

im going to see if its a problem...some people say not...but anyway since the front pins can be accessed easilly with no need to go through the frt as they are easilly reached through the side when the hood is partially raised i may just block it off completely with mesh or even solid material...it would only affect the hand hold but just grab a ski,,etc

it amazes me that diamond doesn;t offer hood mount option etc..at least that i know of..and the welds are bird****tylumpy...but strong...anyway the hood was a little close to bmp pipe for height...(touching)..i just cut 1/2 inch off pipe resting rubber block by clutch and all is ok..still sparkplug clearence etc..

How about you sell me a kit? Very nice work! Seriously, I would buy that from you.

well thanx..lol..i just drilled four small holes in the hood..picture of the front one in hood..two small holes inthe side of hood near back..two small ones in the top lip of the side panels...the front holes in sled already there from stock...so i would sell ya a drill bit...lol..the two front pins that have that neat turn clip lock with the security cable i bought at canadian tire...3 dollars each appro 1/4 in pin in diameter...when they get more i will buy two more to replace my side pins as they are really cats a$$ and will eliminate the cotter pin to lock..i would just use spacer rubber to take up pin slack to keep sides tight..so sell ya a drill bit and 12.00 in pins when they get them again and old fuel hose....lol...thanx....so just place hood on sled...drill four holes...the side holes continue through the side panels...pin and ride..!!!

nice

Im getting ready to mount one and I was wondering what did you use for a front hood mouning bracket?can you buy one or did you have to make it?thanks for the pics

yea just drill a hole a bit back from the hood cut out as per picture above showing hood in my hand and use stock frt pin mounts/hole...its best to place hood on and see just where to drill...and its surprising..a lot of lift a guy can get on the hood without removing the frt pins before it binds ..enough to expose top of cylinders/plugs etc

man when i first looked at mounting this thing i was over complicating it...then i just went with the K.I.S.S system or my laziness just won out..anyway its a fast easy secure system that is very easy to remove and install..

I think Ill make a trip to the hardware store tomorrow Ive been putting it off because of mounting and Im wondering how cold Ill get coming back at dark wet and cold?

hope you find those pins with the flip end...don;t know what they call them...thingmajigs and watchmacallits will get ya kicked out of the store..lol..if they are offered in differant diameters well 1/4 to 5/16 is good for frt...3/16 would be lots for sides...good luck

my guage cluster i mounted on timbersled mount and then two blue foglights on the underside of timbersled mount..since the light elimination is not a problem on 07 l wired mine up to high beam circuit that way i can have them off and when on high beam the indicator lets me know they are on...i went with two 55w..
