Polaris Heavy Duty Rear Springs

I just got done installing set of heavy duty rear springs in my 08 D8. They don't seem any stiffer then the stock ones. Can anyone tell me what the part number is. My dealer sent me #7041943-067 / 7041942-067 sprg-tors.375sq/77. Did I just waste an hour installing the same spring that is already in the sled?

Any Polaris gurus tell me if these are the stiffer springs?

I think stock ones are like .359 or .349 wire so there is a difference. May not seem much but you should notice it. .405's are the next biggest ones, they may rub on the carrier wheels that is why Polaris doesn't recommend them, but they do work.

here are the numbers for the .405's 7041655-067 and 7041656-067 my brother just put them on his 06 and they made a huge diff. they do touch the idler wheels a little but don't look like it will be a problem.

my brother just put them on his 900 made a ton of diff. his was sagging 5 inches with out any weight on it. now it don't sag but a 1/2" until he sits on it then he has 3-4 inches of sag.

I just got a pair of the .405sq/77 rear springs part #7041940-067 & #7041941-067. What is the procedure for installing them? I see a set screw on the microfiche, do I loosen those before I take the bolts out? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks Rat1

loosen the track, remove the rear suspension bolts and drop the rear of the suspension down, release the spring s so there is no tension on them, remove allen screw and slip collar and idler wheel off remove springs and revers order for install. that should be it.

Are there two different sets of 405 springs? Your part numbers are different. ???? Also, what is the cost of those springs?

Thanks.

If you do not prop up the front of the suspension with a 2X4 the rear will sag a lot, since the skis are sitting on concrete and not sunk into the snow like they will be when riding. Basically you have to get the front track shock to start carrying some load. I'm over 300 with gear and ride with .405 on the first/second setting depending on what kind of riding. Generally its better to put more tension on the spring before going to a larger spring. I havent tred them but I think these http://startinglineproducts.com/catalog.cfm?pageID=detail&catalogID=3&catID=47&productID=1124 may be the ticket for a lot of people. I have heard of some people using 47 degree springs from an edge rmk to get extra tension/preload, just have to take tension off in the off season or you'll need a new set every year.

yes there are 2 diff 405 springs the only diff i see is the spring width. the ones rat1 used are a little narrower and may work better don't really know. all i know is the ones we bought work so i think you can use either one.

My guess is that they should be the 77* because every spring on them are that. I hope that's what it is because I'm exchanging my 375's for the 405's. The 375's still sag and I also have those fancy x-click blocks and I way about 240, I'll give them a shot!

Dman:

Give us a yea or nay after you get them on and try them out.

405 90° springs are the way to go, due to the angle you get more tension on em with the lower steps on the adjusters. I ran 405 90°'s on my Edge on the lowest setting and they were the heat. Putting a set on my IQ RAW here shortly.

That was the part#s they gave me at carlscycle. They are the 77 degree. I installed them this morning and they are stiff. The sled does not sag anymore..lol. I have them in the softest setting. I am sure they need a little break in time. They were around 75 each.

i put the same ones on and now almost to stiff for my weight im sure they will break in and be soft enough for me on the lowest setting.

I am just putting a set of 405's on my Dragon. They are a tight on the idler wheels. Should I be concerned???

Good question, put my 405-77* on thursday, rode it on friday, they seem to be the answer as far as the sag goes, but they are tight on the idler wheels. Will this cause some problems down the road? I noticed on my 600 rmk that they turn easier by hand with the stock springs on it.

I got the springs on and they are way better. I am also going to return to the dealer to bump the shocks up to 200PSI. I guess for now I will keep close eye on the idler wheels and new springs. Any input would be appreciated.
