CPI Pipe for XP

spend the xtra money on SLP or straightline places with ceramic coating and great reputations. I have been around cpi pipes on HO skidoo's and SLP i really think the SLP worked great.

cpi is crap, i did a big write up on the old site with pics. they have monkeys welding their, be carefull.

oh and they have idiots shipping out the wrong parts that will cost you money and time in the end. so be aware!

Everytime I have called CPI, Mike Hare the owner has answered the phone and been more than helpful. I have seen some welds come apart though. A friend ran on on his XP last year. Big improvement in the mid range, noy so noticable on top end.

All of my dealings with CPI have been great. They are good honest hard working people that stand behind their work.

I really like Mike and he has never been less than helpful and honest with me or anybody I know.

If he says it has an 11 hp gain I would say it does too, but if he does not specify where the gain is call and ask, he will tell you.

He really is a great guy.

I agree that there product is crap! I broke two cans and one pipe in less then three months. They replaced then at no charge but it was always two or three weeks. Just my 2 Cents

It is definately better than stock, side by side I consistenly pulled a stock piped sled by about a sled length, sometimes stretched it to 2 by the end of the hill. We were lined up in about 2ft of powder with a good base. Both 154X's. One was bone stock with some clutching and gearing(Real strong for stock) Oh it had a MBRP can on it. I ran a 154X with a CPI pipe and Glasspacks. Ran a little more weight in the primary, other than that, we were dialed in identical. Swapped sleds several times and the results were always the same. I sold a dozen or so to customers through the shop.

As far as the welding and customer service, I had a buddy who had a CPI pipe and can on his King and the welds split and melted his plastics. Mike was on top of it and made sure the can was replaced as well as the plastics, rivets, etc etc.

I couldn't tel lyou if the pipe made the claimed 11hp but it was noticeable.

Add a Terra Alps head and I think you'd be further ahead. Add all three and it's a strong strong combo.

Plus it's lighter than stock. That's more of a reason to buy a pipe and can than HP gains in my opinion. As long as it doesn't loose HP, it's not obnoxiously loud, and it's lightweight.....that's all I ask. If it's a noticeable difference on the hill.....well that's what matters.

when i got my cpi pipe and can, i asked for and got a dyno sheet from mike...the 11 hp is at 8100 rpm....the good thing about the pipe is the throttle response off the bottom and in the mid-range....average race with a stock sled put me about 2 sled lengths ahead.....check out snowests' deep snow shootout this last year....the dealer used that pipe for his mod sled in conjunction with nos.....i've always had good luck with cpi pipes

How loud are their dual stinger mufflers?
I HATE those hi-pitched coffee cans most people use.
I've heard sound clips of CPI's and they seem like they have a lower tone and sound real good but sound clips don't ring the ears like real life sound does.

i like how everyone says they get taken care of. now imaging being up in canada(where the good sledding is anyways ;)). they send me the wrong part. and TELL ME to SHIP IT BACK PREPAID.BS...thats not taking care of me.i didnt bother sending it back, i still have it sittin in the garage cause i dont like wasting time and money. heres some pics of the one they sent me. sorry their crappy pics but you get the idea.
mmmm nice welds

now they may claim good hp with their own can theyve spent many hours designing and gettin the right curves for airflow etc etc. but once they start building lots....they hired the monkeys.

now i'd like for people to post their pics of cpi and prove to me that they have good welders their...

That doesn't even look like Monkey work; more like a Gecko:D That's pretty ugly stuff. My 7th grade shop teacher(missing 8 fingers!) could weld better than that:rolleyes:

So you ordered direct? You know, since your from Eddy you know Trans Can Imports operates out of there. If you got it from a dealership that got the can from TCI you'd have a new one no questions asked. One of the only reasons I delt with TCI, because if you do have problems.....it turns into their problem.

I agree they shoulda helped you out and made good on their product. But that's sometimes the attitude you get when you deal over the net instead of with a local dealer. Sorry if I sound harsh, they shoulda made good for you, regardless.
