Are these cut to fit? Or do you just get the material? I need some to do a CR Apex hood? where the light holes are cut out?
Lights behind the vent mesh?
Anyone have experience with lights behind the vent mesh as suggested here? Halogens or HID's? How much does the vent mesh reduce the light or change the pattern, and are there heat issues to consider, since the mesh is plastic? (at least in the Mountain Fit headlight delete vents).

I just made a vent I cut up out of a black steel mesh waste paper basket I picked up at Wall Mart for $6. I bent\molded it around the headlight, trimmed it, and riveted it on with some fender washers. Came out very clean looking in the front even though the inside isn't so pretty. The screen is some really tough stuff and shouldn't have any problems with snow.

My compliments, FriscoProx. That is quite an inspired idea, which I will attempt to copy. However, I am going to one-up you. I just checked and my black steel mesh waste basket is from Target and cost $11.99!
The steel mesh should be resistant to potential meltdown from the heat of HID lights mounted in close proximity.
My only only other question besides what the mesh might do to the light intensity and beam pattern, is when standing and riding forward close to the bars at night, will you see light reflection off of the mesh?
This is pretty open mesh compared to the plastic screening frequently used, and mine is finished flat black, so I'm guessing any unwanted reflection off the mesh will be minimal.

Check out the Ultimate Burner Driving lights at Walmart (too). $20 for the pair. they're about 1" x 2" and thinking about cutting the very bottom of my windshield out and mounting them so its flush with the windshield. I'll post some pics if I go that route.

i had a set up just like what you guys built on my sled last winter . the only difference was i followed the hood contour lines with my mesh and covered it in screen material as well . it worked great . I got my mesh at an automotive store and it was aluminum . the only down side was it too allot of time to build it , 4 hours after all the test fitting . so this year i picked up a mountain mod delete kit . here's a pic of the one i ran last year

mine seams to work good in the dark it is definetly not a bright as stock but i sure like the looks of it behind the mesh.
