Just a reminder - you don't have to be a back country rider to have this happen to you, just riding in the mountains can put you at risk - make sure your riding partners and yourself are prepared. This is a sobering video from a helmet cam for an avalanche burial victim - by the grace of God and an excellent partner to have on the mountain (a guide) knew how to save his life. If you don't have a beacon - get one, if you haven't taken a class - take one

We just moved to MN from WA State and we don't ride in the mtn's without our Beacons, backpack w/shovel & probe - seconds count when you or your buddies are out there. In Jacksonhole, WY I know they rent beacons and maybe even one of the clubs loans them out - do yourselves a favor and take the class - this is serious business when in the mountains and what you learn could mean your own life you save!!!!!

And seriously - if you need equipment to take to the mountains for a trip - we'll even loan you ours if we are not using them (which is rare in MN I understand :p) We have 2 of the beacons/shovels/probes.

Agreed. Everyone should take these classes. See sticky on the top of the MN section for more details.
