08 D8 ethanol wire

Lots of talk about this on here. I have read about white wire to the red wire. My issue is I have a black with blue strip male end, white with blue strip female end and a pink with a female end.

What wire to use? I'm thinking the pink to the black. Anyone know for sure?

ethanol wires

Plug them together for NON-ethanol fuel. Unplug them for ethanol fuel. And I agree with Turbo. Most info I've read said a reflash is needed. I believe it's the "03-24-08 reflash."

I just had the topend update done with the 09 flash. Dealer forgot to plug it is and I fouled 7 plugs over 2 days.

Wired were unplugged with regular fuel.

So you are running regular non ethanol fuel and foul plugs with the wires not connected?

I can't belive it's that much of a difference??

So what does a guy do that runs a pipe on 92 octane (which is probably ethanol fuel)?

Having the wire unplugged also pulls timing out, as well as adding fuel. Mine was VERY fat in the middle RPM'S.

When I say regular fuel, I mean 90 octane. Thats the best we get up here.

I bought myself a new Polaris this year and I'm a little confused about the "Ethanol and Non-Ethanol" wiring. I understand that if your running "Non-Ethanol Fuel" the wires should be plugged in and if your running "Ethanol Fuel" the wires should be "unplugged". My question is I'm wanting to break my sled in using 92 octane "Non-Ethanol" so I'm having to bring my own fuel to my cabin. The gas stations around where I ride only sell Ethanol fuel. When I have to fill up at the gas station and I have let's say 1/2 tank of "Non-Ethanol" mixed with 1/2 of Ethanol should I leave the wires UNPLUGGED? We finely have enough snow at my cabin here in Oregon so I'm looking forward to some riding this weekend. I would appreciate any help you can give my.

I road mine 3 days with the wires unplugged because at first I did not know about them and the sled ran ok just used a lot of fuel, I would play it safe and leave them unplugged at least until you get higher up in elevation then I would plug it back in. I still think mine is a little fat at higher elevations even with the wires plugged in but at 2100' it is not rich at all very crisp indeed. I always run Shell Gold I believe it is 91 octane.

i have not plugged mine in, no flash,no update, runnin 91 fuel no ethanol, no bog no problems, does seem to burn fuel but i like the performance, *note* also afraid if i d*ck with it i won't have anything to ride??

also i ride 6-8k elev.

Thanks for the reply guys I ride from 5,000' to 7,500'. I was just wondering if there was a "safe" setting. I'm wanting to run Premium 92 Octane only "but" If I end up having to add some 87 octane with ethanol I'll have to un-plug my wires.

i dropped mine off at the dealer today.. last year didnt pull revs like it should have they did the 09 upgrade didnt plug in wires and now it has a bog seems rich in midrange. and today to start it ..2 pulls it backfired and then 8 more to get it to start.dealer is lost.. im thinking no more polaris for me.my 80 yammi 340 fired up 2nd pull the 08 d8 pull my arm off to get it to run..wtf?

Perhaps you have a messed up TPS, or your throttle cable is too loose causing the sled to cut out. Pretty sure that the 09' update and re-flash have the operation of the ethanol wires opposite the 08'. Also with any EFI sled Yammies included they really dont like to run for 30 seconds and shut off. Not saying thats what is wrong with yours, but a lot of people start em up to show off their new can or move it 10 feet and foul plugs and flood them the next time they go to run it.

the default setting is unplugged, if you're not sure what you have in the tank leave it to the default setting :D
