Just wondering why would you even think of screwing around with the factory settings?....I say leave it alone and save yourself all the grief.......just my.02.
its a well known mod that is done to help improve durability of these sleds. 3000 turbo miles on my pro say that it works...
Because the factory setting are designed to appease the EPA at 6800 RPM and are unrealistically low for a two stroke engine, that's why.
I'm turning into the "Turn Your Oiler Up" cheerleader around here but, so what. Turn Your Oiler Up. Your Pro will love you for it.
Factory setting, IIRC, is around a 60:1 Fuel/Oil ratio. Is that enough oil? Maybe on the bench or in the lab, or on the dyno...but out in the world, probably not.
2.5 turns from factory puts you in the 40-42:1 range. And it's the best possible mod for this sled because more oil = more durability AND it's free! (assuming you have a few basic tools)

I think it would be better advice to check your oil consumption before assuming it is set too low. My '13 was delivered running between 40 and 50:1 depending on how you rode it. I turned it up 2.5 turns and ran 30-40:1. My '14, on the big boys ride day, was around 30:1, on a casual picture taking day it is 40:1
I think Polaris has been feeding the newer ones more oil because they knew it was part of the problem. I do not see any need to adjust my '14, the factory setting, paint on the screw still intact, was 40:1 or better.
You should definitely verify what ratio it is running. You should definitely adjust it if it is running less than 40:1 (ie 50 or 60:1).

Danny, That is excellent. I just bought a 2015 Pro and will be taking delivery next week. Whatever you are doing seems to have worked out pretty good. Now I wonder if I should just drive mine or measure consumption and figure out a ratio? Thank you.
The 15 is probably fine but, wouldn't you really just rather know for sure? The new sled should have oil mixed in the gas. This is the safest time to determine what ratio your new sled is running. Fill the tank, fill the oil reservoir. Measure what was used after the ride, calculate.

Thanks for the picture. I'm glad I looked at mine it was off/lean almost 3-4 full turns. Funny thing my son's 2012 pOrk 600 is on the lean side as well. Throttle free play doesn't effect adjustment would it?
Throttle free play is independent and does not affect oil pump arm, unless it's too tight, of course. On two 8's and one 6 I've set the oil use to be ~35:1 for how we ride, and all ended up maybe 15-20 degrees past the alignment marks. FWIW.

Good point, I should have mentioned that in my first post! Mine was also off from the factory... This should be checked, before making any adjustments, and then oil consumption definitely needs monitored.
Well I adjusted pump to factory settings ran the sled this weekend burned almost 7 gallons of fuel and used exactly 22 oz of oil which comes out to 75/1. Before I get worried I thinkvi need to remember that the pump is dependent upon throttle position. I run a vipec on turbo with 7 lbs of boost, now obviously I am burning more fuel than stock sled but not because of throttle position but because more fuel is programmed in with vipec to fuel boost. So the question is do I adjust oil pump to the amount of fuel I'm running or not worry ? I also add an ounce of oil per gallon in the tank.

Oil added to the fuel tank isn't helping your bottom end (crank and rod bearings). The injectors are mounted on the transfer ports. Turn that oiler up!
You adjust the oil for the total amount of fuel you are using. 75:1 on a turbo? You had better be worried!

You guys can't go off of the marks, that is why it is adjustable. Figure your oil consumption first, adjust accordingly, who cares where the marks line up?
