I have 450 miles on my 09 and I was thinking about changing the oil in the DD and I was wondering how much it takes and what kind of oil to use? I've looked through a few diffrent threads but was wondering if the 09 DD is diffrent with the reverse and such? Thanks!

Yer not wrong Dave, the bottle says 12 oz on it. I dont think AC put out the 15 oz bottles yet. But yer suppose to use a 12oz bottle and a 3oz bottle. The 3 oz is the same we use for our m7's. 15 oz puts you right to the bottom of the fill port.

i run the cheap gear oil from walmart...its much better then the stank oils from the OEMs....i take my chain cases and DD apart every 300ish miles...just to take a look at things...and trust me, the OEM gear oil does not work like the cheap gear oil i use

I work for a tubine/Gearbox/Compressor manufacturer...so ive seen a thing or two;)

you cant save a DD when it want to go, the application allows no teeth/material to exit the gearset....it stays inside and eats almost everything:(

Just an FYI;

04' - 06' Diamond Drive Non-Reverse 3oz
07' - 01/31/09 BDX Diamond Lite Drive 4oz
02/01/09 - UP BDX Diamond Lite Drive 5oz

07' - 08' Diamond Drive Mechanical Reverse 12oz
09' - UP Diamond Drive Engine Reverse 15oz

Definitly use Cat or BDX oil, took 2 years in development, pressures of the planitatry, anti-foaming etc...I am sure there are many other qualified oils out there, just do not know which ones.

Went to my cat dealer today and asked for 15oz of DD oil and they looked at me like I was crazy. The mechanic has a 09 m8 aswell and he said 12 oz filled it..... so I dunno should I just throw 12 and see if it fills it or just throw 15 in??

Cat reccomends 15oz, who is your dealer?

Check out the pic and the yellow banner at the bottom...

My stament earlier is from what Cat says to put in, we have not tried ourselves yet but it is essencially the same case as last year with less parts in it, need more oil to fill the void...

As far as changes, once per season or 1500 miles was the reccomendation..change it at the end of the season.
