Installing 2009 800 motor in my M7. I have a few questions.

Hey guys, I bought a complete, but wrecked 2009 CFR800 as a donor sled. I am going to install the 800efi, electronics, wiring harness, etc into my M7 that previously had a carb'd 700, which i just installed into my '08 SnoPro 600. My question is, will I be able to make the engine reverse work as long as I use the secondary from the donor sled? Otherwise, anything else I need to make sure of? Thanks for the help.

You have all the 09 800 wiring so that part is all plug and play. Your engine pot plate and the mag side mount are different so you will have to figure that out. I've never done it and I don't have a M7 to look at.

use the newer secondary but you will need to use the belt to match 046 cat. Mounts are different as discussed above other than that just the wireing from the m8 and the controls.

You're going to run into some issues mounting that bigger block with different mounts. There is a mount on the front dead center of the bottom half of the case and they do not match. The 800 motor mounts were just welded in on the front pretty close or on the sway bar tube and a couple odd ball mounts not at all like the smaller 600/700 case. Not to mention it was wider by like two inches and longer by three. You might have to take a closer look at the cfr chassis that it came out of to get the idea.

I'm not very familiar with the M8 mounts but if they're similar to the M1000 mounts you'll have a few things that will need to be modified or fabricated. The M1000 (and I'm pretty sure the M8 is the same) has a mag side motor mount that is welded to the front cooler that the M7 doesn't have. The pto plate that bolts to the engine case behind the primary is different. The M7 one mounts to 2 studs on the bulkhead, where the M8 (if it's the same as the M1000 one) mounts to 3 studs. The 2 on the M7 will line up with the M8 plate, so you could just ignore the 3rd if you use the M8 plate or add it with some fabrication and some alum welding. I would do the fabricating and welding if I were you. It's worth doing right the first time. If you try to use the M7 plate, the bolt holes that bolt to the case won't match up so you'd have to drill new ones. The motor mount by the oil pump will bolt right on no problem, again if it's the same as the M1000.

I recently just put a M1000 based motor into an M7 chassis so if it's similar or the same as the M8 I know all about it and can answer questions for you. It was a lot more involved than I originally thought it would be but I got it done, and so far so good.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I was hoping it was going to be an easy swap but apparently not. I've already removed the original motor and installed it in my snopro chassis so I'm going to work on installing that 800 in my M7 this week.

Actually its not bad at all. The PTO m8 motor mountmount matches up with the m7 chassis just fine. There will be one unused bolt hole. The front mount bolts right to the sway bar tube..same same. The tricky part when I did mine was the mag side mount. I built a two hole angel wing mount that just bolted to the side just aft of the original m7 mount. One long through bolt to the m8 motor mount and another short bolt to stabilize the Angel wing mount.

You have the wiring so that should be cool. You'll need to used the CF Speedo.

Good luck!:-)
