2010-2011 M8 clutching

I propose that we make a sticky for clutching setups for the 2010-2011 M8!

Ill start with mine.
2011 HCR Stock motor with an HPS can 0-3000ft. I run 71.5g weights with a polaris black/green primary spring. Secondary is using a 36* helix with a cat orange spring. runs right about 8150rpm with a trackspeed of about 48mph.

2010 M8 162 8-10,000 feet, stock secondary and currently a CPC gold/white primary spring. AWESOME. Snow conditions were a bit different today, but it looks like it brought my track speed up 3-4 miles per hour, from 36 to 40 mph from my SLP blue/pink spring. I run 8150-8200 rpm and run stock 68 gram weights. Next year I will have the HD skid plate, powder pro skis, and an RKT torsional secondary IF I don't spring for a 2012 cat!

I'm running a 2011 153 Sno Pro @ 9000 ft mostly

I am running Dalton LW adjustable weights (63.5-71 grams)

I'm running 69.2 grams with the weight as close to the heel as possible. Works flawlessly and pulls hard at 8100-8200 RPM. I am running the stock yellow/white primary and stock secondary setup (straight 36 and orange spring).

Snow has been so deep lately that my speedo has been covered, but trackspeed appears to be mid 40s. I will post solid #s when I can watch more.

Also, keep in mind the 2011 fuel mapping is stronger on the 2011s and run harder then the 2010s period.

I tried the SLP Blue/Pink spring with my stock weights and it bumped my RPM up but seemed to make my track speed stick at 38-40 MPH. Stock spring seemed more like 42-44 MPH.

i know this has nothing to do with clutching and may sound like a retarded ? but i gotta ask.....i have been hearin alot about this 2011 fuel mapping bein alot better is there anyway to get the 2010's remapped to match the 11's? thanks

Cat wont remap them, I dont know why but they wont. But if a guy wanted to spend the money he could buy the ecm for a 2011.

Can't we find somebody to remap them? They reflashed the 1000's, why can't they do the 8's? Is it the HCR map or something?

So you are running a couple to four more mph's on a shorter track, how much better is the map?

Well I put my 2010 HCR next to my 2011 HCR. They are both identical and both had new belts with simalar weight riders and my 2011 flat out pulled away from my 2010 and the 2011 only had about 70 miles on it.

I was running 42-44 MPH track speed with bone stock clutching and less then 200 miles on my sled. Didn't you say you were at 36?

I ride with 2010s and notice a difference a for sure. Two of my buddies had 2010s and now have 11s and can tell the difference.

Also, another one of my riding buddies has a 2010 HCR with a brand new primary and runs 250ish less RPM with identical clutch setups on the same hill with me riding both sleds back to back.

Haven't had a chance to watch my track speed with my current clutching setup but I would also like to try the Gold/white Cutler spring.

Kinda sounds to me as if you're trying to justify to yourself forking out the extra money for an '11 when there's '10's left to be had.

I'm running a BDX intake and SLP pipe on my 2010. 6-9000 ft. weights... Can't remember the grams, Orange/White primary spring, orange secondary spring, shift assist (which I will be ditching. Not a fan of -200 rpm). 44/36 progressive helix coming in soon.

C'mon guys....

My dad has a 2011 M8 and I have a 2010...We swapped ecu's and there isn't a dimes difference between the two. Seems to me like the 2011 guys are trying to justify the price difference between a holdover 2010 and a 2011.

New sleds ALWAYS run better than last years and it's all in the clutches. Sleds always run better as a first year sled, thats honestly how much your clutch life works. Swap your 2011 clutches with your 2010 and I would bet that there is no difference. With that said...there may be different mapping on the 2011 but its nothing you can't correct with a fuel controller. So for those of you that are wanting to swap because you honestly believe there is a difference, why not tune your sled with a $400 dollar fuel controller install of considering a $1,300 ecu or a reflash?

I'm just trying to clarify on clutching, that the 10s will not pull the same weight as the 2011s.

As far as leftovers, I looked for a leftover 10 for months and found no good deals at all. Less then $1000 difference to get an 11.

Why not pay that to get less depreciation, better shock valving and better fuel mapping? Seems like a no brainer to me.

Now if I could of a bought a 2010 M8 Sno Pro for $8000 like you can buy XPs and Dragons, that would of been a no brainer!

Well, almost, my 2007, 2008 and 2009 M8 all ran about the same motor wise, 2010 M8 ran very good, better than the 3 previous M8's by far, my 2011 M8 has ran like a scalded cat since day one, I dont know why or care why, but the 2011 M8 runs hard
