Right now some great deals have been posted on KSL. So, I'm seriously considering buying a new M1000 but I don't know if the extra money is worth buying the 09?

I am new to Arctic Cat and have never owned an M1000 but is the 2009 really worth the extra money?

If any of you Cat guys can help with the pros and cons between the 2 sleds it would be appreciated.

Here is the deal

2008 M1000 162. only $6199
2008 M1000 162 SNO PRO. only $6899
2009 M1000 153. only $7699

IMO 09 Is definitely worth that $800 difference. The 09 sleds are quite a bit lighter and just work better. Especially if the 08s are still stock tracks and not powerclaws. The powerclaw works amazing on the 1000s cuz of the way it just keeps hooking up and the 1000 powerband will just keep chugging on. That 153 powerclaw will out climb a 162 challenger, all other things equal, all day long.

For $800 its defineately worth it. Lighter, better tunnel end, and it'll resale will be worth about $1000 more than a 08 for years to come. The PC track is a $4-500 upgrade, at least. That's a great price on a new091000, imo. Get the 09.

You can't compare the price of a 162" Sno Pro to the price of a regular 153".

The '09s have three big advantages over the '08s: engine reverse, Power Claw track, and better rear tunnel design. Engine reverse can be added for $15 once you get the '09 reflash (PM "spoon" on here). I don't know what Power Claws are going for, but I would guess $6-800 (buy one used on here for under $500). The rear tunnel can be modded for $300 or less.

Thanks for the comments. I was looking more at the non sno pro 2008 M1000 for $6199.00 this saves me near around $1500.00 total cost.

If I purchased the Sno Pro I think I could just be happy with the extras it comes with. Doesn't the Sno Pro come with better shocks, different gauges, and color scheme?

You can spend the extra $1500 now or later. If I could swing the '09, I would. I think they are 22 lbs lighter. The powerclaw track is worth it over the challenger. For me the biggie is the mechanical reverse diamond drive in the '08. It will gernade and that is a ~$650 swap for a new one. The 09 has a different DD that only needs a $60 bearing to be bulletproof.

After having a 07 and 09 the 09 is so much better its ridiculous. worth more than $2000 more if you ask me. A 09 162 will maneuver better than the 08 153 and a stock 09 will out perform a 08 piped.

Another vote for the 09 . My 09 M1000 162 SP feels 50 lbs lighter than my 07 M8 162 . The 09 is a damn nice sled.
