What should my max rpms be when climbing? Track speed? I know snow conditions are going to make a big difference. I more just dont want to turn my motor to many RPM or to low. Any help would be great.

Should be around 7300 if stock! 7400 with a good can, and 7700 with a good pipe and matching can. 8050 with twins. Stock pipe with can works great all around, Can't go wrong with stock, Just don't let it spin higher than 7400 max or power will fall off substantially. remember some tachs lie by about 200 rpm and some are right on.

i thought they make max power at 7600 to 7800? either way i have SLP twins and they call for 8200...however if you are running anywhere above 7800 it is wise to have your crank welded and pinned, they are notrorious for throwing bearings

Although I have never had a crank problem in 6000 miles. knock on wood.

As for track speed. If you can get it to hold 45 in a good climb with good powder you are doing fine. Won't see much more than that. IMO without some work.

Well that makes me a little nervous. I change the secondary clutch by moving the spring all the way forword and in about 4" of fresh powered going straight up with a STOCK sled I'm getting around 7600rpm and 50MPH track speed. It sounds like i'm in the ball park but maybe a little high. It feels awesome right now. But i would perfer not to hurt my motor.
