800 Edge Drag Racing Questions

I have a '04 edge that I want to run at some grass and snow drags this year.
The sled is a 151 stock track, 800 engine, heavy trailported, twin SLP race pipes, VF3 reeds, re-configured SLP heads (25%) 110 race fuel, bored carbs.
I currently run a blue/pink primary and spin 8400 with a 58/40.40 team. The gearing is 21/41. I want to know what kind of gearing/helix changes that I can use to go the 500 feet it requires. My altitude goes from 4900 to 6900 feet. Any help will greatly be appreciated, and many thanks in advance.:D:D

gearing sounds pretty good. 8400 seems pretty high for tach. what gram weights you running. does it pull hard the hole 500ft. best thing i can say is it is a trial and error thing. at least that is what i have found out for myself with my 800 race sled. what rpm you engaging at.

800 Drag Questions

Sorry it took so long to reply. NASCAR @ Vegas!!!! Anyway, the engagement RPM is 4200, I am using MTX wts with a 1gm rivet in the tip. It seems to pull significantly harder on the shiftout than on the bottom end. Can I steepen up the helix to keep a more steady pull all the way thru?

ya you should be able to. every sled is different. some have a slite bog on the bottom end. stiffer spring and more weight to get the engagment up past the bog i would say with a steaper helix.
