2003 1M 900 missing

We went out Sunday afternoon for a short ride. My son's 900 went about 8 miles running fine, (just 30 mph down the trail) when it started missing. Sled idled 5 or 10 minutes while we got ready. It has spark on both sides, drained the bowls to make sure there was no water in them, unplugged kill switch and tors, pulled top off of carbs to make sure all was ok.
Sled has compression on both sides. Starts and runs, just misses badly after about 1/4 throttle.
It acts like my '02 polaris did when it overheated and went into limp mode.
Any ideas?
I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow, but any ideas might save me some $ if I can fix it myself.

Check the compression. I've seen a number of 900's take out a piston riding easy down a trail. They run too lean until you start to pull your needles out.

Mine did something simular and was a nightmare to diagnose... Ended up being the voltage regulator. $29.00 part... If you unplug it and it idles and rev's OK replace the regulator.

Thats getting pretty low. I run 152 &150 at 1000' If I remember right Craig is about 6800'? You should still be in the 130's. When they get to 100 psi they will barely run.

It is hard to pull over isn't it? If the compression was that low it would pull over quite easy I would imagine?

compression should be around 140-150. make sure you run motor first to get warm then check it. sounds like power valve out adjustment. happens when you hit 6500- 7000 rpm range right? one is out of wack or sticking. or servo not working.

This works sometimes: Seperate the the plug boots from the wires, cut off a half inch of wire and reinstall boots. Assuming the boots are good.
